The Okala Ambassador Program is aimed at building a sustainable network of active, articulate supporters who will represent Okala in their local communities in order to educate, motivate, support and raise funds to empower children in rural villages in Cameroon through education.
"Nicky Haldenby is an 18 year old singer/songwriter from Scarborough in England who has the ability to hold audiences through meaningful lyrics and intricate melodies. He released his debut album ‘Beautiful Moment’ in August 2011. Nicky is self taught at piano and has been writing songs since 2008, writing in a number of genres from acoustic to pop to indie.
Over 2011, Nicky gained some recognition through his song ‘We Can Change The World’. Described as “sad, but yet so inspiring and beautiful,” the song was used on a video promoting Comic Relief which quickly began to pick up views from across the world. “For me, that’s really where my musical journey kicked off from.” With over 19,000 views, the video continues to be Nicky’s most watched on YouTube.
Nicky is currently recording his second album, which is expected to be released in September 2012. Nicky describes the album as ‘a definite evolution from last year.
Nicky is thrilled to be the first ambassador for Okala Foundation. He has donated a new version of his song ‘We Can Change The World’, titled as the Okala Mix, to the charity which he hopes will be able to spread the word about the foundation further.nickyhaldenby.com
